Obituary of Olivia Rose Sacco

Please share a memory of Olivia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Olivia Rose Sacco, 10, was called to heaven to be an angel on Saturday, March 2, 2024, with her family by her side.
Born on October 16, 2013, in New Hartford, NY the daughter of Gregory P. and Trisha A. (Wood) Sacco.  Olivia was a 5th grade student at Deerfield Elementary School, which she attended since kindergarten. Olivia enjoyed making everyone smile because she always had a smile on herself. Every teacher would agree that Olivia was a special girl who connected with all those lucky enough to work with her. Olivia was a smart girl who loved school (so much that she would cry at the start of summer vacation!) She was an active member of the school chorus as well as the Deerfield Elementary School Band and Whitesboro's District Band, where she played the clarinet. Olivia especially loved science experiments and art classes and was an art student at Munson Williams.  She was also a member of the Girl Scouts. In the summertime, you could find her floating in the pool and soaking up the sunshine or spending quality time with her brother and her cousins, with whom she shared a close bond. Whether that be playing goalie in a game of pick-up soccer, making YouTube un-boxing videos, drawing with chalk on the driveway, bouncing on the trampoline, creating slime, taking walks, or riding her extra-special bike. She was always eager to participate and ready to have fun. One of her favorite pastimes was setting up a lemonade stand at the end of her driveway, where she, her brother, and her cousins would sell lemonade to raise money for local animal shelters. For Olivia’s family, their favorite activity was finding ways to make Olivia laugh because her giggle was infectious. It was her sweet, fun-loving nature that will be missed by each and every heart she touched.  She loved her younger brother Dominic, his biggest cheerleader in all of his life's accomplishments, and always tried to take his pain away in his toughest moments.
Olivia is survived by her loving parents Gregory and Trisha, her little brother Dominic, maternal grandparents Kevin and Tina Wood (Papa and Nana), paternal grandparents Gregory M. and Gretchen A. Sacco (Nonno and Nonna), several aunts and uncles, Melissa (Sacco) and Nicholas Leone, Angelina (Sacco) and Vincent Leone, and Christina (Sacco) and Brian Wood, and her cousins, Josephina, Evalena, Vincenza, Santino, Gioia, and Ellie.
The family wishes to extend its gratitude to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department, and well as the New York State Police, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office and Kunkel Ambulance Service as well as the staff of the Wynn Trauma Department. The family would also like to thank Dr. Griffith and Dr. Hansen, as well as the staff at Deerfield Elementary.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Magic Foundation, an organization that supports families affected by a variety of rare illnesses similar to Olivia's.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 4-7PM at the Heintz Funeral Service, Inc. 408 Herkimer Road, Utica, NY.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Olivia’s funeral Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, March 2024 at 10 AM at St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, 648 Jay Street, Utica, NY 13501.  Olivia will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Oneida Street, Utica.
