Obituary of Dorothy G. Bienkowski

     Mrs. Dorothy G. Bienkowski, 82, of Schuyler, NY, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Rome Memorial Hospital.

     Dorothy was born in Utica, on July 30, 1941, the daughter of Earl and Isabella “Betty” (DeCosta) Richmond and received her education in Utica schools. On June 14, 1958, Dorothy was united in marriage with Bernard Bienkowski. For many years, Dorothy was employed with Mele Manufacturing in Utica. She enjoyed playing bingo, camping and cookouts, but her greatest joy was spending time with her precious grandchildren who were the light of her life. Dorothy was a parishioner of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica.

     Mrs. Bienkowski is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard and Violet Bienkowski, Jr. of Herkimer, James and Nancy Bienkowski of Poland and Donald and Katrina Bienkowski of Schuyler; seven cherished grandchildren, Richelle, Megan, Jaimi, Nichole, William, Andrew and Cassandra; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sharon and Joseph Moses of Marcy, Beverly Blum of New Hartford and Diane and Ray Hughes of Schuyler; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Cindy Richmond of Deansboro and Michele Richmond of Schuyler, as well as 20 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her canine companion, Hinckley. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard; daughter, Jacqueline Bienkowski; grandson, Justin Bienkowski; sister, Barbara Carey and brother, Richard Richmond.

     Mrs. Bienkowski’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dorothy’s neighborhood family for always being there to take care of Dorothy. Your friendship and love will never be forgotten.

     In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes there are no calling hours and the family will celebrate Dorothy’s life in a private service.
